Membership

The West Virginia Humanities Council depends on the support of individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies to serve the people of West Virginia through programs and grants in the humanities.

We invite you to become a partner in that work. With your support as a contributing member, the Humanities Council will continue to engage the people of the Mountain State in the power and pleasure of ideas. Your gift supports community programs in cultural heritage, contemporary issues, reading and literacy, as well as enrichment programs for teachers.

Neighborhood Investment Program Tax Credits

Thanks to your support, we are all out of tax credits this year.

This remarkable program allows businesses and individuals to apply NIP credits to WV Personal Income Tax or WV Corporate Net Income Tax.

The tax credit details and requirements set by the State of WV for receiving credits are as follows:

>Gifts must be a minimum of $500 (lump sum). No cumulative donations.
>NIP credits are awarded in the order that gifts are received until West Virginia Humanities Council runs out of credits.
>Gifts may be in the form of cash, check, credit card, debit card, online payments, IRA Distributions, etc.
>Donors have the option of using the tax credit in one year or over a five-year period, with the year of donation being year one.
>NIP credits cannot reduce total state tax liability by more than 50%.
>The maximum tax credit allowed in any one year to any donor is $100,000. All donations remain eligible for the Charitable Contribution Deduction on their federal tax return.

Tax credits will be dispersed on a first come first serve basis. Lock in your tax savings by contacting Katie Morris at 304-346-8500 or at morris@wvhumanities.org.
