FISCAL OFFICER JOB POSTING
The West Virginia Humanities Council, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, announces an immediate opening for the position of Fiscal Officer.
The Fiscal Officer has the primary responsibility of administering the financial systems and budgets of the Council, ensuring funds are properly monitored and submitting required financial reports.
The Fiscal Officer oversees the Council’s staff payroll and benefits program, and reviews invoices and vouchers for proper authorization for biweekly check runs. The Fiscal Officer prepares requests for draw-down of NEH grant money, and manages the transfer of funds associated with the Council’s grants program.
The Fiscal Officer prepares and presents reports to the Council on pertinent financial matters, files appropriate state and U.S. government reports, and works with the Council’s external auditor to ensure the Council maintains compliance with federal regulations.
Qualifications for the position of Fiscal Officer include a degree (four-year accounting degree or its equivalent) in accounting with a minimum of three years’ experience, knowledge of fund accounting, and excellent organizational skills. CPA or equivalent work experience is preferred.
