Weaver Rachel Slaughter will present a lecture on the history and practice of hand weaving in Southern Appalachia over the ages including craft-focused missionary work in the region, textile mills, school weaving programs, and contemporary weavers. She will be discussing its cultural significance and illustrating historical techniques with images and samples both antique and contemporary.
