The 2016 Peterstown Heritage Festival spotlights U.S. history in the mid-1800s, especially the Civil War era. Participants will learn more about this unique time for Monroe County, and make personal connections with their own family histories. A Civil War enactment group will present an overnight encampment depicting daily life in their unit. Workshops in genealogy and family history will teach research techniques and personal narrative writing. Attendees will enjoy activities along the main street throughout the day to include contests, demonstrations, exhibits, food concessions, musical performances, a parade, and numerous vendors. The Heritage Festival will provide opportunity for everyone of all ages and interests to experience "living history" and explore personal historical connections and traditional culture.
